One of the important additives of powder coating

The leveling agent is one of the important additives in powder coatings. In the powder coating formulation, for the requirement to get a smooth coating appearance, whether it is high gloss, light, semi-gloss, matte or matte powder coating, add leveling agent. The role of the leveling agent is the powder coating melt flow, the formation of a single molecular layer on the surface of the molten coating to provide uniform surface tension, but also the powder coating and the coated object (workpiece) has good wettability, so as to overcome the coating surface due to uneven local surface tension and the formation of pinholes, shrinkage and other ills. In addition, the leveling agent is beneficial to improve the leveling of the coating film, reduce the orange grain of the coating film, facilitate the dispersion of pigments and fillers, and facilitate the degassing during the film forming process.

The main components of the leveling agent are acrylate homopolymers and copolymers, silicone modified acrylate polymers, polysiloxane, hydrogenated castor oil and butyral, etc., and its dosage is 0.5-1.5 percent of the total formulation, which can eliminate shrinkage and improve the gloss of the coating film.
